This one came together on a day when I really just wanted to feel the heat of summer — that full, rich Mediterranean warmth that clings to your skin and makes everything feel alive.
I didn’t worry too much about the structure; I just let the flowers tumble across the page, as if they were spilling out of a sunlit courtyard, wild and overgrown.
The bold reds and blues against the golden yellow are meant to be a little chaotic — like heatwaves in colour. I wanted it to feel full of life and slightly untamed, like a garden in high summer where everything’s just slightly past perfect and all the more beautiful for it. I think sometimes the messier paintings say more.
This one reminds me to loosen up and let the colours lead.
