I love destination weddings. There is something special about gathering the people you love, travelling somewhere beautiful and turning your wedding into more than just one day.

I'm Eleanor Dailey, a destination wedding photographer based in the UK, and I've spent much of my life travelling and photographing people and places around the world. I've been lucky enough to photograph a wedding in Tuscany, Italy — my favourite country in the world - as well as Napa, Alaska and all sorts of wonderful places.

Weddings Anywhere Beautiful

For me, a destination wedding doesn't have to mean one particular style.

It could be a vineyard wedding in Napa Valley, a wild celebration in Alaska, a beach wedding with bare feet and sea air, or a mountain wedding surrounded by huge landscapes.

It could be Tuscany, Greece, California, the Alps, the Mediterranean or somewhere completely unexpected.

What matters is that the place means something to you.

Destination Weddings in Italy

Italy is hard to beat for a wedding. Beautiful old towns, villas, vineyards, olive trees, incredible food and that unmistakable Italian light all create an amazing atmosphere.

Photographing a wedding in Tuscany was an absolute joy, and I'd happily return for weddings anywhere in Italy.

What I particularly love about destination weddings is that everyone has travelled to be there. Guests relax, people spend more time together and the wedding becomes part of a whole trip rather than just a few hours.

Natural Destination Wedding Photography

My style is relaxed, natural and documentary-led. I want to photograph what actually happens rather than turn your wedding into a long photoshoot.

I'll capture the preparations, ceremony, laughter, food, speeches, dancing, family moments and all the little things happening around the edges.

We'll also find a little time for beautiful photographs of the two of you, especially when the light or landscape is too good to ignore.

And the destination should be part of the photographs. If you're getting married on a beach, in the mountains, amongst Tuscan vineyards or under an enormous Alaskan sky, I want that sense of place to be part of your story.

From Napa to Alaska

A vineyard wedding in Napa Valley gives you warm evening light, long tables, vines and beautiful landscapes.

A wedding in Alaska offers something completely different — mountains, wilderness, water and vast skies.

Beach weddings can be wonderfully relaxed, while mountain weddings have a scale and drama that you simply can't recreate anywhere else.

That's what I love about destination weddings: no two places feel the same.

Small Destination Weddings & Wedding Weekends

Destination weddings don't need to be huge.

Some of the loveliest celebrations are smaller weddings with a handful of family and friends, a beautiful ceremony, a long meal and time together somewhere special.

Photography can also include more than the wedding itself — welcome drinks, dinner the night before, a beach afternoon or brunch the following morning.

That helps the photographs tell the story of the whole trip.
